Article 370 nixes MEA meet

The removal of Article 370 by the Modi sarkar is being felt intensely by the Ministry of External Affairs. With Indian diplomats busy dealing with the aftermath, the ministry has reportedly cancelled its annual conference of heads of missions slated to be held next week in Gujarat. The decision to call off the meeting was reportedly taken a couple of weeks after Article 370 was nullified. Since then MEA mandarins have their hands full, explaining India’s decision on the article to the rest of the world. Almost all ambassadors and high commissioners are at present involved in an intense diplomatic outreach in various bilateral and multilateral forums on the issue. Also, it said that Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was to inaugurate the conference, will be travelling at the time. It is not clear yet whether the conference will be rescheduled for a later date or has been cancelled altogether.
